You Make It Real - James Morrison Analysis

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRxccy-zcJ8

At the start of the video, the camera is showing the view out of the back window of the car that the artist is sitting in. When the first note is played, the camera focuses on the artist looking out of the window of the car. The next shot is a close-up on the face of James Morrison The next shot him setting up or rehearsing for what looks like a gig. The first emphasis is on an acoustic guitar that he is playing and then the camera shows him singing  into a microphone and then changes shot to him sitting in a car again. It seems to be showing that he has to travel a lot to his concerts. A lot of the video focuses on the fact that he is singing, whilst playing the acoustic guitar and the camera shows this by regularly showing both, either separately or together in the shot. The main setting in the video is in an empty hall with the artist on stage perfoming. The main focuses of the video is on the music and the instrument (acousic guitar) used in the video. The lighting is very basic and consists of a few lights around the walls of the room. There are lots of close up shots of the instruments and band members singing, this again emphasises the fact that he is a skilled musician who wants the insruments and his own voice to be the main attention of the listeners and watchers of the video.

The setting is very much like the one in Mumford & Sons - Little Lion Man, where the band also performs in an empty hall.

Setting in video 'Litlle Lion Man - Mumford & Sons'

The video seems to be showing a day in the life of the artist, giving the audience an insight to what he would normally do in a typical day.
